Overview

Problem Statement
Design and implement a system to increase Haitian internet access to at least 40% of the population within 5 years. This system should be sustainable and scalable. When designing the system, you are not limited to existing projects and are free to create your own. Make sure to detail your creation from required supports systems to how you launch and scale it. Although the pilot country is Haiti, your solution must have the potential to be scaled worldwide.

Roden Case Comepetition: About

Design and Implementation

Our solution to Haiti's internet access problem was to create a cheap and scalable WiFi access point and repeater that could be implemented easily with a minimal draw on power. We decided to use the NodeMCU microcontroller module as our primary solution since it utilized the ESP 8266 wireless chip which was very adaptable to our design requirements. We also created a network schematic detailing long range access for the rural areas of Haiti. Lastly we created a business plan to implement this solution within a timely manner. The details of which can be found in the presentation linked below.
